After years of uncertainty about whathappens to household soft plastics, a new Australian brand is proving they canbe recycled, and reused, right here at home.
Rawspec, launched by Holloway Group,is using 100% Australian-sourced recycled plastics, including post-consumersoft plastics (LDPE) and recycled polypropylene (PP) and turning them intodurable, Australian-made products from storage crates and pails to constructionmaterials.
Made using certified recycled resin from household soft plastics, the Rawspecrange showcases how waste can become durable, high-performance products made inAustralia.
The rollout of the 23 durable product lines begins this November, with products set to reach major retailers and local councils across Australia in the comingmonths, a tangible step toward a functioning circular economy.
“For too long, Australians have beentold that soft plastics couldn’t be recycled,” said Matthew Holloway, Owner & Director of Holloway Group.
“Rawspec proves that’s no longer true,it’s happening now, here in Australia. We’re turning household waste intoreliable, Australian-made products that people can use every day.
“Australians have been calling for asolution to recycle household soft plastics. Through our collaboration with theHolloway Group, iQRenew is proud to deliver this new material stream ascertified resin pellets, made possible by our Soft Plastic Processing Facility‘SPEC’ on the Mid North Coast of NSW,” said Danial Gallagher, CEO of iQRenew.
The Role Rawspecis playing
Australians generate more than 538,000 tonnes ofsoft plastics waste every year, much of which has historicallygone to landfill. The collapse of supermarket soft plastics collection schemesleft many questioning whether these materials could ever be recycled at scale.
Rawspec offers a local, scalable solutionthat closes the loop between householdwaste and Australian manufacturing, making the circular economy visiblethrough products Australians can hold in their hands.
